Increasing levels of online shopping

Increasing numbers of consumers are finding the internet to be the most convenient method of shopping. In reaction to this increase, businesses must constantly review their delivery methodologies and ensure that they’re providing convenient options for their customers.
eBay have recently announced that shoppers will be able to collect their goods from Argos stores, initially it will be eBay’s top 50 sellers that can use this click and collect service in a 6 month trial before a roll out to all 735 Argos stores. It was back in 2000 that Argos coined the phrase “click and collect” which is now Britain’s favourite way to shop.

With recent safety fears and terrorist threat attacks on shopping centres, there will inevitably be even greater levels of internet shopping in the Christmas period, putting further strains on the delivery logistics. Companies need to ensure that they have plans in place for coping with the increased customer demand during this busy period. Amazon, for instance, has just announced that they will taking on an extra 15,000 workers to ensure that customer orders are still fulfilled in a timely and efficient manner.

Amazon has just been voted the UK’s favourite retailer, beating John Lewis and Marks & Spencer’s for choice, value for money and convenience.
