Ofcom the postal regulator has confirmed that the Royal Mail performance levels have disappointingly dropped in the 12-month period to the end of March.
The target is 93% for first class mail (next day delivery), yet only a performance of 76.5% was achieved. Likewise, with a target of 98.5% for second class delivery (within three days), only a slightly better performance of only 92.2% was achieved.
Royal Mail have acknowledged they are part way through a modernisation programme and must accelerate their delivery performance.
