THE FUTURE OF PACKAGING

Recent highlighting of plastic pollution is making the awareness of paper and cardboard as the most environmentally friendly packaging.

Two Sides UK recently found out in a snap survey consumers significant concerns regarding packaging in general. Coffee cups, plastic bottles, chocolate bar wrappers, crisp packets and take-away packaging were all perceived to be the most significant cause of litter.

As we move towards a regenerative, circular economy as outlined in the UK’s 25-Year Environment Plan paper and cardboard will be an essential material as it is durable, renewable and recyclable.

SWISS POST TEST ROBOTS FOR POSTAL DELIVERIES

Swiss Post have been trialling robots to deliver post.  During the robots deployment the delivery robots completed almost 200 runs over an area of 800km without any accidents or collisions.

The box-like robot caused quite a stir and was being photographed constantly by passers-by! Road users were cautious at first but soon learnt how to share the road with the robots cautious driving style.

Further tests will be needed in the future if the robots are to be used on Swiss pavements without supervision. However this is not currently possible due to Swiss legalities. Starship Technologies the manufacturer of the delivery robots aims to do further tests and gather further data from other locations across the world.

Robots and drones will become a significant force in parcel deliveries within the next 5-10 years in the UK so watch out!

NATIONAL LEON DAY – JUNE 25th

National Leon Day marks June 25th as six months away from Christmas day. Leon is Noel spelled backwards. It was traditionally the day when crafters began planning their homemade gifts and decorations for Christmas.

COMPETITION WINNER PRIZE FULFILMENTS

Yes Response have been working with a prominent midlands PR agency, to fulfil prizes to winners of competitions in home style magazines.

This project involved receiving the products from 15 supplier participants over an 8 week period. Yes Response collated the prize gift packs which consisted of 4-6 items per prize pack then distributed the packs to 64 prize winners. This project also included chasing outstanding products to ensure the timely fulfilments after the publications closing date.

Yes Response were tasked with distributing “football” stress balls for one of our clients. 2,400 stress balls were distributed to 45 nationwide offices.

Yes Response have embraced the World Cup with bunting and footballs in our reception, along with a sweepstake.

TODAY 25TH MAY – GDPR COMMENCE

Today marks the commencement of the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) which replaces the Data Protection Act of 1998.

A recent guide for GDPR for Marketers: The Essentials’ – the DMA state the following:

“The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) mirrors the DMA’s long-held view about the need to place people at the hearth of everything we do – and echoes our commitment to a code that enshrines five key principles which marketers should follow:
